01 / Core definition
What is public policy advisory?
Public policy advisory is strategic decision support that analyzes the policy, regulatory, institutional and stakeholder dynamics affecting company decisions to reveal risks, options and actionable steps.
It does not replace legal advice, communications or representation. It connects these disciplines around the company’s objective.
02 / Critical distinction
Regulatory monitoring and regulatory intelligence are not the same.
Monitoring answers “what changed?” Regulatory intelligence adds “what does it mean for the company, which scenarios may emerge and when should action be taken?”
- Business-model and investment impact
- Implementation and timing risk
- Stakeholder expectations
- Decision options and early warnings
03 / Relationship architecture
A stakeholder map is not a list of names.
A strong stakeholder map does more than list actors by title or institution. It assesses interest, influence, expectations, relationship history, potential risk and the appropriate communication framework together.
04 / First meeting
Which question should begin the engagement?
Before asking “whom should we meet?”, ask “which decision must the company make, what is the time pressure and how is success defined?” Sound scope clarifies the decision before activity begins.
